Upward Transitions Names New Director

OKLAHOMA CITY – Upward Transitions, a local nonprofit which supports the impoverished and homeless, has recently named Karla Stinnett as director of development and public relations.  She will report to Chief Executive Officer Periann Pulliam and serve to foster donor stewardship and raise awareness of the Upward Transitions’ mission to end generational poverty in Oklahoma County.

Stinnett has served on the board of Upward Transitions the past three years. In April, she stepped in as interim director of development and public relations to support the marketing, fundraising, and public relations efforts for the organization until she joined the organization full-time. Stinnett has over 20 years of experience in both corporate and nonprofit business sectors and holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond.

“Her commitment and passion for Upward Transitions’ mission has been evident during her service on our board of directors the past three years,” said Periann Pulliam, CEO. “She has served on our fund development and marketing committee for three years and has served as chair of our annual fundraising event, American Tourist, the past two years. And we are very pleased to have her join our staff.”

Upward Transitions is an Oklahoma County nonprofit that serves families and individuals who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or stranded by providing case management and stabilizing resources to help meet basic social needs.
