Kristy: An Upward Transitions' Client Victory Story

“I have so much relief from this help and do not have to fear about losing our home as I wait to go back to work in a couple of weeks. This really is a godsend!” said Kristy.

Today, Kristy says she is healing and plans to go back to work in a couple of weeks. She hopes to volunteer and donate to a nonprofit.

Kristy, a single mother with a young son, suffered a brutal dog attack that rendered her unable to work for 2 months. As medical bills began depleting her savings, she was unsure of what to do. She had never had to seek assistance before and was a loss for where to begin. Her ear had to be reattached, and she was adjusting to life as someone with severe hearing loss.

She reached out to Upward Transitions for assistance with submitting her application. Kristy had a good relationship with her landlord, so it was easy to work out a plan for Upward Transitions to assist her and for her not to lose her home. Her Upward Transitions’ case manager also assisted her with communicating through her hearing loss and alleviated her anxiety about speaking on the phone in a different way.
