Upward Transitions Receives $110,000 Relief Funds from United Way

Upward Transitions is humbled to be the recipient of a $110,000 Covid-19 Response Fund grant from United Way of Central Oklahoma. Through the generosity of United Way of Central Oklahoma’s COVID-19 Response Fund and its supporters, Upward Transitions is now able to provide rent and utility assistance to families with children under 18 and seniors 55 and older if they have experienced a loss of income in connection with COVID-19.

Upon hearing of the distribution, Periann Pulliam, CEO of Upward Transitions, shared, “We are so grateful for the opportunity to help families and seniors impacted by the COVID-19 Health Crisis! We appreciate all that United Way of Central Oklahoma does to support those most in need in our community and the community partners who are working to provide emergency relief.”

The case managers of Upward Transitions will work directly with families in Oklahoma County to evaluate the needs of each family. Upward Transitions expects to help around 55 households with up to 2 months of past-due rent and utilities now through the end of May.

As of April 1, the United Way of Central Oklahoma COVID-19 Response Fund had received $536,677 in donations and $867,013 in emergency grant requests from nonprofit partner agencies. Of those requests, $381,549 is being distributed this week to the following partner agencies: Bethesda, Homeless Alliance, Latino Community Development Agency, Pivot, Special Care, Upward Transitions and YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City.
