United Way of Central Oklahoma announced at its June 22nd Board Meeting that President and CEO, Debby Hampton, is to retire after 13 years. During her tenure at United Way, over $278 million was raised to support disaster relief and programs of nonprofit partner agencies providing health and human services in Central Oklahoma. She also served as President and CEO of the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits, and she spent 16 years with the American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma, serving four years as CEO. Hampton is a graduate of OU, and she has completed course work at Harvard Business School. She currently serves on the United Way Worldwide US Membership Accountability Committee and the United Way Worldwide National Presidents’ Roundtable.
“We are incredibly grateful for her outstanding service and leadership as the 12th President and CEO of the United Way of Central Oklahoma,” said Chairman of the Board, Shane Wharton. “Debby has set a high standard and while it will be a challenge to find her successor, we appreciate all she has done to ensure United Way’s continued work in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in our community.”
Hampton has graciously offered to remain in her position while Wharton appoints a search committee to select a new President and CEO as well as during the hiring transition. Wharton said that the offer was gratefully accepted.
