Event Announcement: American Tourist NOW Spring Fundraising Initiative

Supporters,

Covid-19 has changed the way we gather as a community in the last few days, and it will continue to change how we interact in the upcoming weeks and possibly months.

Upward Transitions continues to serve clients by supporting them with important and necessary services to prevent homelessness and sustain a healthy place to live.

While our methods have changed, our mission has not. We continue to work hard on behalf of our clients, which is why we will need your help more than ever in the weeks to come.

We had planned to gather on May 15, 2020, for our Annual Fundraiser to celebrate the stories that are inspiring hope around our community and to raise funds for our critical mission.

As an organization, we have decided to change our annual American Tourist event from an in-person gathering to something new and different to allow for social distancing.

We are so grateful to the sponsors of our Annual Fundraiser and we will reach out to each of you who have sponsored our event to discuss these changed plans.

We will continue our fundraising efforts in the upcoming weeks; they will just take different forms such as online auctions, social media campaigns, a special mailed campaign, and other creative ways to engage with us.

Don’t worry, An American Tourist in Paris will return in the Spring of 2021, and we hope to see you there!

While some utility companies and landlords are showing compassion during this crisis, we know that those who live paycheck to paycheck are going to be in a financial crisis for many months to come. They are going to need our help more than ever. It is going to be up to all of us who are able to support them and help them through this unforeseeable situation. We ask that you support us with an additional donation during this time.

Normally, our Annual Fundraiser would raise close to $65,000 for ending generational poverty in Oklahoma County, without this event we are going to depend on YOU, our amazing community to help us maintain the same level of service for our clients.

We know we can count on you. We know that we will be there when our clients need us most.

Stay tuned for more ways you can help,

Micah James
Director of Development & Public Relations
