Express Employment Challenges “LOVE” for Community

The “Sharing the Love” campaign encourages support for those who are homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Express Employment International is encouraging our community to support Upward Transitions by “Sharing the Love” to help address homelessness and other contributing factors of poverty in Central Oklahoma. With the support of Express, a total of $5,000 in gifts will be matched to benefit the mission of preventing generational poverty in Oklahoma County.

Periann Pulliam, Chief Executive Officer of Upward Transitions shared, “Upward Transitions is grateful to Express Employment International for their continued support of our ‘Sharing the Love” campaign. It’s an opportunity of compassion to turn a $5,000 matching grant from Express into a $10,000 contribution to prevent and reduce homelessness in our community!”

Upward Transitions serves families and individuals who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or stranded by providing case management and stabilizing resources to help meet basic social needs. Our goal is to assist families and individuals during times of financial devastation, so they remain – or can return to being – productive contributors to their community.

In the past year, Upward Transitions has seen exponential growth in requests for assistance. In the fiscal year 2022, Upward Transitions assisted 3,300 people with their basic needs. Upward Transitions does not anticipate a decrease in the need for services any time soon, as the impact of inflation has greatly increased the eviction rate and the risk of becoming homeless in our community. This makes the support from donors like Express Employment International vital to serving low-income families and individuals at risk in the community.

Through Upward Transitions’ Community Outreach Program, emergency relief, case management, and direct services are provided to clients to address the issues of homelessness and generational poverty.

The public is encouraged to support the campaign of compassion with a donation by visiting upwardtransitions.org, texting “LOVE” to 405-454-8955, or visiting Upward Transitions, Inc. on social media.
