Express Employment Challenges LOVE for Community

Join the Sharing the Love – 5K in 5 Days Campaign!

Express Employment International is encouraging our community to make the week of February 8-12, 2021 a week of “Sharing the Love” to benefit Upward Transitions. With the support of Express, a total of $5,000 in gifts will be matched to benefit the mission of ending generational poverty in Oklahoma County.

When you donate, you are encouraged to grab one of the premade “cards” from Upward Transitions’ social media collection and share them with your loved ones as a sign that you are “sharing the love” in their honor.

Upward Transitions serves families and individuals who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or stranded by providing case management and stabilizing resources to help meet basic social needs. Our goal is to assist families and individuals during times of financial devastation, so they remain – or can return to being – productive contributors to their community.

In the past year, Upward Transitions has seen exponential growth in requests for assistance. In 2019-2020 Upward Transitions assisted more than 3,330 people in 2,034 households with their basic needs. Upward Transitions does not anticipate a decrease in the need for services any time soon, as the impact of the pandemic has greatly increased the eviction rate and homeless risk in our community. This makes the support from donors like Express Employment International vital to serving families and individuals at risk.

Periann Pulliam, Chief Executive Officer of Upward Transitions shared, “Upward Transitions is grateful to Express Employment International for their incredible support of our ‘Sharing the Love’ campaign. Our programs to end generational poverty have never been more relevant, and we appreciate that Express recognizes our work.”

Through Upward Transitions’ Community Outreach Program, emergency relief, case management, and direct services are provided to clients to address the issues of homelessness and generational poverty.

“Express, along with our more than 800 franchises, is committed to changing lives, whether that’s through employment or investing in community resources which help to meet basic social needs,” said Bill Stoller, CEO of Express. “It’s an honor to partner with Upward Transitions for their week of Sharing the Love.”
